Bringing the spa world to the U.S. Capitol, the Washington Spa Alliance participated in the Professional Beauty Federation’s “Welcome to Our World” event on May 25. The gathering was well attended by Members of Congress and their staff, local vendors and area spas and salons. The elegant Caucus room featured complimentary salon services (manicures, waxing, haircuts & touch-ups, make-up applications and chair massage) hors d’oeuvres, beverages and a sampling bag for every attendee.

 

 

Per the Federation’s website, the world of beauty is a $60 billion a year industry and touches more than 400 million people. Throughout the day, members of PBF visited offices of Congress members to discuss issues, ranging from access to cosmetology education and consumer protection to equitable taxation on tips, fairness in financial aid for our students, and small business support.

 

Therapists from WSPA member MINT Fitness & Spa treated guests to chair massage and hand cream application with Alchimie Forever.

 

As 100’s of services were performed, demonstrating the impact that “the world of beauty” has on our lives… both for the givers and receivers… the Professional Beauty Federation delivered a creative message to the members of Congress! Thanks to Congressman Eric Cantor from Virginia for facilitating this impressive event.
